Why 1955 Topps Collectors Need a Pirates Yearbook (And It Ain’t for the Clemente Photos)
🏴☠️ Why 1955 Topps Collectors Need a Pirates Yearbook (And It Ain’t for the Clemente Photos)
If you collect 1955 Topps baseball cards, there’s one piece of ephemera you really need to own: the Pirates 1955 Yearbook.
At first glance, you might assume the appeal is obvious. The yearbook includes a brief bio of Roberto Walker Clemente, along with a pair of team photographs that were probably the same ones used as the source for his 1955 Topps rookie card.
But that’s not actually why 1955 Topps collectors need this yearbook.
The real reason is on the back cover, where Topps placed a bold advertisement across the top half proclaiming’55 Topps Baseball cards were The Finest Picture Card Series Ever Produced!
And, yes, the player photos are great, too.
